EKALAVYA

Ekalavya is a terminal-and-web coding tutor. It authors lessons, diagrams, and interactive visuals into a canvas you keep; it walks you along a forest of mastery — learning groves on a winding path rather than a flat wall of nodes; and after every session it shows you, honestly, whether you are actually getting better.

Its one non-negotiable: it measures your unaided accuracy and keeps it separate from AI-assisted work. Paste a full answer and the round is lost — the streak breaks, merit drops. Type it yourself and you reclaim it. The point is not to look productive; it is to become capable.

In the Mahābhārata, Ekalavya is a forest-dwelling Bhil boy who wants to learn archery from Droṇa, the greatest teacher of the age. Droṇa refuses him — he is an outsider, born outside the circle allowed to be taught.

So Ekalavya walks back into the forest, shapes a clay statue of the guru who turned him away, and practises before it, alone, until he can outshoot the very princes the hall was built for. When Droṇa discovers this self-taught mastery, he demands his fee — dakshinā — and asks for Ekalavya's right thumb, so the outsider can never surpass his favoured student. Ekalavya gives it, without a word.

A story of a boundary-crosser who was denied a teacher, taught himself anyway, and was made to pay for it.
